Safety can be very real concern for all adolescents, but especially for Teens with Autism. For many adolescents on the spectrum, the possibility of developing greater independence must be balanced with the risks associated with learning to navigate new experiences. It is important that safety is taught to adolescents with autism as part of the skills that they will need to enhance their independence.

The ADI-R is a semi-structured, standardized measure of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviours synonymous with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  It is widely considered a ‘gold standard’ measure for gathering important developmental and behavioural information for assessment and diagnosis of ASD.  Developed by some of the foremost researchers and clinicians, the ADI-R provides a highly accurate evaluation of current and past behaviour in individuals from 12 months of age to adulthood, from individuals who are nonverbal to individuals who are verball

Many individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders are at increased risk for other developmental, behavioral, and mental health problems. These additional challenges often mean that treatment and management options can sometimes be overwhelming, frustrating, and confusing.

This FREE workshop by Carmen Ragan Ability Hub’s Assistive Technology Ambassador is intended for individuals who are “new users” of the iPad. The workshop will focus on the basics - what to consider when purchasing an iPad, navigating the iPad and understanding the settings, as well as finding, downloading and organizing apps.
