Bullying Among Individuals With ASD Workshop

February 19, 2015, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This presentation will begin with a review of current research findings regarding bullying among students with ASD. The presentation will then cover the current state of knowledge regarding bullying interventions, as well as strategies to support students who experience bullying.

Workshop Speakers:

Alyssa Altomare, M.Sc.
Alyssa is a Doctoral Candidate in the School and Applied Child Psychology program at the University of Calgary. Her dissertation research involves investigating bullying, coping strategies, and mental health among children and adolescents with ASD. Alyssa is a trainee in the Autism Research Training (ART) Program, and is the recipient of a Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Alyssa has been involved with the PEERS intervention offered at the Ability Hub, and also runs a chess and board games club for adolescents and young adults with ASD.
