EmploymentWorks Canada – For Individuals with ASD Who Want to Work

Later this month (September 2015), an exciting new Worktopia program for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will be piloted at The Ability Hub in Calgary. The 12-week program called EmploymentWorksCanada offers employment preparedness training for individuals ages 15- 29 who are no longer attending high school. It occurs two times per week for approximately 2.5 hours each session, and provides participants with opportunities to explore their interests and abilities in a variety of different work environments, practice social and communication skills, and help them get to know their “working self” while exploring the pathway to future employment. The program also provides workplace partners with the opportunity engage with a workforce that is known to be highly reliable, capable and dedicated employees.
The EmploymentWorks Canada program is sponsored by The Sinneave Family Foundation and Autism Speaks Canada, and is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Funds for Persons with Disabilities Program.
