Is Your Child Anxious?
Posted: August 21, 2014 in General Autism News
Anxiety disorders are common among children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In fact, up to 70% of individuals with ASD have a co-existing mental health diagnosis like anxiety, depression, ADHD or OCD. While medications can be helpful in managing symptoms, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be a more effective treatment over the long-term and helps to prevent relapse.
MindBalance for ASD is a NEW 10-week treatment program that builds on proven interventions such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT), HeartMath® and Facing Your Fears. This program is designed to help individuals aged 10 and older learn to identify and deal with anxiety using evidence-based coping tools and strategies.
Start Date: September 15th, 2014 (7:00 to 8:30 pm)
Location: The Ability Hub (3820 – 24th Ave NW, Calgary)
