Thinking about employment options for your child?
Posted: November 23, 2015 in General Autism News
Many adolescents and young adults with ASD have unique interests and skills but may not be able to or ready yet to enter the formal workplace. The structure, demands or physical environment of many traditional jobs, including entry-level jobs, may not be a fit for some individuals with autism. The question is could the interests and skills that your child has be translated to a social enterprise or an entrepreneurial endeavour?
We are looking to bring together parents, family members and caregivers involved in the lives of individuals with autism to discuss employment options (e.g., starting a home-based business individually or with a small group of people with similar interests). There are several successful entrepreneurs with ASD in Alberta – learn more about Aaron Bercovich, who creates Lego masterpieces for various clients.
