Understanding FSCD and PDD Funding
Posted: March 1, 2017 in General Autism News
The Resource Centre and Launch staff were pleased to welcome a key staff member from the Ministry of Community and Social Services to The Ability Hub who provided an in-service update on Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) provincially administered programs. Recent changes have been made to co-ordinate government services, and FSCD, PDD, and Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) are now under one ministry. Policies and procedures have changed to allow for a smoother transition from FSCD to PDD. In addition, youth (aged 16 or 17) who receive FSCD funding are invited to attend a Transition Planning Conference that consists of a team of supportive people to collaborate on a Transition to Adulthood plan.
More information can be found at the Human Services website.
To apply for FSCD funding, phone the Intake Line – 403.297.6022 or go to the Alberta Supports website:
Adolescents, on their 18th birthday, are no longer eligible for FSCD funding. For more information on the application process for PDD, see the “Quick Guide to PDD”.
The Resource Centre at The Ability Hub can help you with transition planning, information and navigation support. To speak with staff or book an appointment, please call 403-210-5000 e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
