What types of resources are included in the database?
The resources in this database are categorized into four main content types: Organizations and Providers, Books, Research, and Links (websites, app links, blogs, videos, etc). Every entry in the resource database – whether it’s an organization, a book, or a link – falls under one of five main topics: Health & Wellness, Education & Employment, Communication & Social Relationships, Legal & Financial Issues, and Independent Living Skills. These topics are based on the five Launch domains, and cover all the important areas of transition in the lives of adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum.
Although many of these resources are Alberta-based, we will continue to expand this database to include resources available in other provinces, as well as those available on a national or international level. As well, you will find that while many resources are autism-specific, there are many geared towards people with disabilities, as well as the general public.
How can we add or update our organization’s profile?
We always welcome new additions to the database. To submit new organizations please register for an account and submit your profile for approval. Please note, once you have submitted a new resource it will be screened by a moderator prior to getting published, so please be patient! By connecting with The Ability Hub and our network of resources and organizations, those interested in learning more about autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities can also learn more about the resources and services you provide.
Who can use this database?
Everyone! This is a free, fully searchable database for ASD and disability related information, services and support aimed at parents, caregivers, agencies, professionals, and, of course, individuals with ASD or other disabilities.
The information in the database about our organization is no longer current. How can we update our organization’s profile?
Updating an existing profile is simple, visit the Update Organization page, enter the appropriate fields and submit your changes. All update submissions are reviewed and approved by a moderator, so please be patient.
